The purpose of the Planning Commission shall be to take the lead in preparing the Town's Comprehensive Plan. As the goals of the community change, or circumstances in the Town change, this group has the responsibility of updating the plans. The Planning Commission must ensure that each proposal made to them meets the goals and standards set out in the Comprehensive Plan and subdivision regulations.

The Cedaredge Planning Commission is composed of nine members, including the Mayor of the town and one member of the Board of Trustees of the town as the ex-officio members, and seven persons appointed by the Board of Trustees.
